Many of you know now – I got married (sorry singles ladies ) on 29th May 2010. We hired Darren Tan of MagicalShots to capture the moments. Here’s excerpt from his blog post. (Note: Italic emphasis are mine)

I was told this is a Northen Indian (Gujarati) wedding. However, they had the Sangeet (Garba) ceremony before the wedding day at Gujarawati Association (Gujarati Samaj) in Bangsar followed by their wedding ceremony the next day :-/. Even their wedding ceremony was different from the rest I’ve taken. So is this Indian or Sikh wedding?? (Gujurati) ..ahaha.. let me update you guys after I’ve clarified this with the lovely couple Nevertheless, I can tell you something for sure is that everyone enjoyed and danced their heart out during the Sangeet (Garba) ceremony without the influence of alcohol..not even a single sip B) Astonished eh? Perhaps that the meaning behind Sangeet (Garba) whereby everyone just dance and basically have a good time which will be a true blessings to the newly wed to see every of their guest being happy for their wedding

The wedding was super duper fun. Thanks to our families, relatives (flew all the way from Gujurat, India – 30 of them – and there were here for a month – phew!) & friends (who traveled all the way from Alor Setar & Penang for 2 days event) for organizing and participating in those events. The highlights of the wedding is definitely the Garba night – which is on the wedding-eve.

You will see me holding a sword. I do not know why I need to do so. I assume it is part of the Gujarati groom attire; even though according to one of my cousin-sister; “If your brother in law says something stupid – slaughter him with this sword!”

Fortunately, nothing like that happened.
